PAYMENT POLICY

Last updated: 17 August 2026

This Payment Policy explains how you can pay at Clarke Bennett, what currency we charge in, how your payment details are protected, and when you are charged. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. ACCEPTED PAYMENT METHODS

We accept the following credit cards, debit cards and payment methods:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Shop Pay

Debit cards issued on the Visa and Mastercard networks, such as Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard, are accepted as Visa and Mastercard payments.

These are the only payment methods we accept. The methods available to you are also shown at checkout before you pay. If you would like to pay another way, email us at support@clarkebennett.com and we will tell you whether we can arrange it.

2. CURRENCY AND WHAT YOU PAY

All prices and charges are in Canadian dollars (CAD).

The total shown at checkout is the total you pay. It includes the Canadian customs duties, import taxes and carrier brokerage charges that apply to importing your order, which we pay to our carrier and customs broker on import. You will not be asked for any further payment when your parcel is delivered. Shipping is free on every order. See our Shipping Policy at clarkebennett.com/policies/shipping-policy for more information.

We are not currently registered for GST/HST in Canada and we do not charge or collect GST/HST, PST, RST or QST from you as a vendor. Any federal or provincial tax payable on your order is assessed when it is imported and is covered by the import charges included in your checkout total.

If your card is denominated in a currency other than Canadian dollars, your bank or card issuer may apply its own exchange rate and foreign transaction fee. We have no control over those charges and do not receive any part of them.

3. WHEN YOU ARE CHARGED

Your payment is taken when you place your order. Placing an order is an offer to purchase: your order is not accepted until we confirm acceptance, and we must receive and process your payment before we accept it.

If we cannot accept your order — for example the item is unavailable, there was an error in the price or description, or we cannot ship to your address — we will contact you and refund you in full.

We will never charge you more than the total shown at checkout without your express consent. Where a pricing error affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you and you may confirm the order at the corrected price or cancel it for a full refund.

4. SECURITY OF YOUR PAYMENT INFORMATION

Our store runs entirely over an encrypted HTTPS connection using current TLS encryption. This means the information you send us — including your password, your address and your payment details — is encrypted in transit and cannot be read by anyone intercepting it. You can confirm this yourself: your browser will show a padlock icon in the address bar and the address will begin with "https://".

We never see or store your full card number. Payments are processed by our payment providers, including Shopify Payments. Once your purchase is complete, all we can see is your billing information, your shipping information, your order details and the last four digits of your card.

Our payment providers are certified compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the security standard set by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council for organisations that handle cardholder data. Because your card details are handled by those providers rather than by us, your card data never sits on our systems.

5. FRAUD SCREENING

Orders are screened automatically for fraud risk by Shopify and our payment providers. An order flagged as high risk may be held for manual review or declined. We do not make decisions about you based exclusively on automated processing without a person being involved.

If your order is declined and you would like an explanation, or you would like the decision looked at by a person, email us at support@clarkebennett.com. Where an order is declined, any amount authorised on your card is released; depending on your bank this can take a few business days to show.

6. CANCELLING AN ORDER

If you change your mind before your order has been dispatched, email us at support@clarkebennett.com with your order number and we will cancel it and refund you in full. We do not charge a cancellation fee of any kind.

Once an order has been dispatched we can no longer stop it, but our Refund Policy at clarkebennett.com/policies/refund-policy sets out your 30-day return window and your statutory cancellation rights.

7. FAILED OR DECLINED PAYMENTS

If your payment is declined, no order is created and we do not hold your funds. The most common causes are an incorrect card number or expiry date, a billing address that does not match your card, insufficient funds, or your bank blocking an international transaction. Contact your bank first, then try again, and email us at support@clarkebennett.com if the problem persists.

8. REFUNDS AND CHARGEBACKS

Refunds are made in Canadian dollars to the card or account used for the original purchase. Our Refund Policy at clarkebennett.com/policies/refund-policy sets out when you are entitled to a refund and how long it takes. Your bank or card issuer may take a few additional days to post the refund to your account.

If we do not refund you when we are required to, you may ask your credit card issuer to reverse the charge. Consumers in Quebec, Ontario and several other provinces have a statutory right to require this, and we will not dispute a chargeback made on that basis.

If you do not recognise a charge from us, please email us at support@clarkebennett.com before contacting your bank — we can usually identify the order straight away and sort it out faster than a dispute would.

9. YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We do not rent or sell your personal information. We share it only where we need to: with our payment providers to take payment, with our suppliers and carriers to deliver your order, with customs authorities to clear your parcel, and — where you have consented — with advertising partners for personalised advertising. You can withdraw that advertising consent at any time.

Our Privacy Policy at clarkebennett.com/policies/privacy-policy explains in full what we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, where it is processed, and the rights you have over it.

10. CHANGES TO THIS PAYMENT POLICY

We may update this Payment Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the payment methods we accept or for other operational or legal reasons. The current version is always available on this page, and the "Last updated" date above tells you when it last changed. Changes do not apply retroactively to orders we have already accepted.
